Identify Users

Identify a signed-in customer with your stable internal ID and known traits.

rtn.identify('customer_123', {

For guest checkout, you can send traits without a customer ID:

rtn.identify({ email: 'guest@example.com' });

Call rtn.reset() at sign-out or when a shared device changes users. This starts a fresh anonymous identity for the next visitor.

Emails are trimmed and lowercased, and phone numbers are normalized before sending. Invalid contact values are dropped while other traits are still sent. Contact data from the browser is treated as unverified; see Privacy Controls.
